Home Décor Ideas for Christmas Season

“Deck the halls with boughs of holly….”

Christmas is the universal festival for bringing people together. The relaxing and merry spirit of December and Christmas, in specific, can become even more joyous when your home matches your mood. This is why with Christmas around the corner, I have some simple but chic, classic festive home decors. Instead of restricting yourself to a red and green palette, you can use these creative decoration ideas to give your home a homely touch.

1. Go Artsy-

What’s better than decorating your home with your or your children’s artwork. You can create such wall art, be it little bows made out of ribbon or shiny bells with family portraits. If you have a pet animal, you can use safe paint to imprint their paws in red and green to make a heart out of it. Not just will it bring your family together during Christmas, but the making process will fill your mind with memories.

2. Spice up your Christmas tree-

Christmas is about going all out! So, why not make your tree go out extravagantly as well? Instead of choosing simple tree decorations, try making them aesthetically fancy. You could get plenty of decorations that you could hang, such as fairy lights, Santa Claus, reindeers, snowmen, candles, tiny gifts, pompoms, hollies, bells, and of course, twinkling stars and edible decors.

If you want to surprise your family or friends, you can even put tiny images of their favourite characters. You can even opt for vintage stands in place of Christmas tree skirts to give an aesthetic touch.

3. Gift wrapping

If you are decorating your home according to a specific theme, contrasting gift wrappers could turn your efforts into being awkward. To complement your home décor, choose similar colour schemes for your gifts as well. If you are unable to find something similar, the safest option is to choose neutral tones like brown or beige.

You could also give a twist to the placement of your gifts by making a gift wreath of them instead of placing them under the Christmas tree directly.

4. Revamp your house plants-

Christmas is the season where almost every house gets revamped. You could either include or change your existing plants with poinsettia (the signature house plant for Christmas), holly, mistletoe, Christmas cactus, or rosemary. These sweet-smelling plants will do the trick of adding fragrance along with Christmas delicacies.

Or, if you are unwilling to change the plants at your home, you can decorate the existing ones with Christmas bulbs, elves, or little notes for a happy Christmas.

5. DIY Advent Calendars-

Replace market bought or fragile cardboard boxes with DIY Advent calendars. You can pin craft bags or muslin pouches to your mantel or shelves, with gifts, treats or notes (from Santa Claus). These unique DIY calendars do not produce must waste and can be used the following Christmas season again.

6. Fancy tassels-

Red and green tassels are pocket-friendly home decors that can be placed as a finishing touch on any knob, door, window, shelf, or drawer.

7. Wintry tables-

Rounding off the hollies or silver candlesticks on your dining table can be covered with solid tones of ivory, white or cream. The vibrancy of the table accessories can match perfectly well with the minimalistic tablespace.

Fill your home this Christmas with your creativity and lively imagination!
