The launch of new Apple products has been known to break records for years now. But the launch of the iPhone 12 has made exceptional news by becoming the world’s best-selling 5G phone in just 2 weeks’ sale. According to Counterpoint, the latest iPhone has acquired 16 percent of the total global market while iPhone 12 Pro has acquired 8 percent. Samsung’s new Samsung Galaxy Note 20 has come close to the competition also by acquiring 4 percent of the tidal global market.
Apple, which usually launches its new iPhone series in September, had a one month delayed launch this year. The phones that were on sale saw huge demand, and the 5G smartphone market has seen the highest ever share of 24 percent in October.
According to reports by Counterpoint, a huge demand for the 5G upgrade has been witnessed, especially among iPhone users. This is the first-ever series of 5G phones from Apple. China and Japan have also reported witnessing strong demands for the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro sales in the month. The latest iPhones are available in over 140 countries.
Smartphones from other brands like Huawei, Oppo, Samsung, have contributed to acquiring the years global market as well, although most of their series have reportedly been released before the launch of the iPhone 12 series.
The new series of iPhone 12 supports mmWave leading to the increase of the penetration of mmWave capable smartphones. This increase was reported to be 12 percent as opposed to 5 percent in September, a month before the release of the iPhone 12 series.
The US carriers will be now receiving an influence to deploy mmWave infrastructure rapidly as more iPhone 12 units get sold.
The iPhone 12 series is expected to hold its position in the global market through Q4 2020, especially staying strong during the holiday season in December. The demand for the same is expected to maintain the momentum in early 2021 as well.
