Uncommon Music genres a music lover must explore

Everyone likes a fair amount of music in their life but some of us more than the others. As a music lover myself, most kind of music agrees with my ears. But when some music starts evoking certain kinds of emotions and vibes, that is, when the music agrees with my senses and heart, it keeps haunting me. Until and unless I start exploring more about the music and its genre.

Here are a few of my favorite uncommon music genres that I came across unintentionally, started exploring, and gave them a place in my heart.
While there are a lot of good bands for all the genres/sub-genres, I will share a few favorite bands/albums of mine so that you can start listening to them without much research.

Synthwave
If given a chance to go back to the 80s or travel to the future, what would you choose? While you don’t have a time travel machine to work on either of your choices, you can still listen to some Synthwave. Given the sub-genre of Synthwave, you can feel nostalgic for a time when you may or may not have existed and can feel as if you’re in a futuristic world.
I came across Synthwave in movies like Drive and Blade Runner 2049 and started exploring more after listening to it in the Netflix series Stranger Things.
Few of my favorites (band): The Midnight, Michael Oakley.

Symphonic metal
While the first reaction of most people to metal music is either laughter or disapproval, some others are very expressive about their love for metal and they like to call themselves metalheads.
I used to listen to a lot of metal when I was young, and when I wanted to continue listening, I came across symphonic.
Symphonic metal is the blend of heavy metal and classical or opera music.
Few of my favorites (band): Edenbridge

Dark Ambience
When I listened to Dark Ambience for the first time, I explored and created visions and pictures in my mind. Dark Ambience gives off a dystopian, futuristic, and adventurous vibe. It gives me a place to explore.
Dark Ambience is a sub-genre of ambient music. Ambient music gives you a soothing experience, and Dark Ambience along with other elements is, a genre of music that is out of the world.
My recent favorite album: Memory 417 by In Quantum

Sufi
I listen to a lot of Bollywood music. While exploring through albums or hearing them while watching movies, I came across Bollywood Sufi. Three times I heard a piece of Sufi music, I went online to check what kind of song it is, and all three times, I was redirected to Sufi music. After the third time, I immediately knew that this is a vast genre that I must explore. There’s something about the instruments, vocals, and lyrics- they are all so spiritually beautiful.

I place Sufi as an uncommon genre because even though a lot of people listen to it, they don’t really know about it as a genre. The most common form of Sufi is Qawwali, which is popular in India and Pakistan.

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Nooran Sisters are a few of the artists you can start listening to.
My most favorite Sufi based song: Aayat by Arijit Singh
